Farewell to Winter - ONLINE DRESSAGE SHOW!

Blacktree Farm students & friends, 

you're invited to join our online dressage show!

Pick your favorite test(s) and start memorizing. There's $250 prize money in it for anyone that wins their class, a qualified outside judge, and you don't even have to come to our farm. Everyone is invited that has a video camera.  : )

• Entries will be judged by video, so no one needs to trailer! 
• Dress tidily, but don't worry about braiding or show attire. Boots on your horse are fine. 
• Once results are in, you'll be able to see the other videos submitted for your class, and you will get a scoresheet back from the judge with comments/scores. 
• Entry fee is $15 per class. For all classes with 3 or more entries (unless stated otherwise): 1st place will receive $250/ribbon; 2nd place $100/ribbon; 3rd place $50/ribbon.

VIDEO GUIDELINES:

Video camera should be set up outside the arena, behind the letter “C” where the judge would sit. All video footage should be filmed in a single cut, free of edits or splicing. VIEW A SAMPLE VIDEO

ATTIRE:

Dress tidily and professionally, but show clothes and braiding are not required. Boots are allowed on the horse. Snaffle bridle and English saddle must be used. Martingales are not permitted. Helmets must be worn.

ENTRY FEES & PRIZES:

Entry fee is  $15 per class. For all classes with three (3) or more entries (unless stated otherwise): 1st place will receive $250 + a ribbon; 2nd place receives $100 + a ribbon; 3rd place wins $50 + a ribbon. Every ride will receive a scoresheet from the judge with marks and comments for each movement in the test. A rider may enter multiple horses in a class, but the same horse/rider combination should only enter each class once.

Franka's first show!

3 year old Yeager filly, Franka, just went to her first show. Ridden by Heidi Hayes, she finished 2nd and 4th in two back to back one-day event competitions. We were thrilled with her willingness, even temperament, and honesty over fences despite being very green. She even earned a score of '9' in one of her dressage tests!

Odin & Franka's first XC School

2007 Yeager gelding, Odin, and his sister - 2008 Yeager filly, Franka, went on their first cross country school this 4th of July.

We couldn't be more pleased with Odin's new found love of splashing around in the water jumps and with how easily Franka settled in on her first away-from-home riding experience.

Franka - 3 year old update

Franka turns 3, Wicca goes back to work

Blacktree Farm bred Yeager filly, Franka, had her 3 year old birthday on 4/1/11. She is owned by Dani Morgan of Olympia, WA, but we have had the joy of keeping her here at our farm for a bit so that she can be started under saddle. She is doing great so far!

Our main broodmare, Wicca (Weltstern/Viking Song), is taking a break from being a mom for a while and has gone back to work. We look forward to her showing debut this summer.

Winter Update

The ponies are all looking fuzzy and happy as we begin 2011.^ Odin has been showing his little brother, Brann, how the world works. Brann has been growing fast so he can keep up!
^ Franka is almost 3 now, so we've started introducing her to her new job as a riding horse. We've sat on her twice and have walked her around. She has been a joy so far.
^ Wicca has gone back to being a riding horse herself, we hope to start showing her this summer.
^ Fraju & Yeager are still the 'Kings' of Blacktree Farm and are doing great.
